Nick Geipel is a Berlin-based industrial designer driven by curiosity about how things work, how they are made, and how they could be different.
His practice combines systematic investigation with hands-on experimentation, exploring materials, technologies and interactions across different scales. Moving between playful exploration and critical engagement with existing systems, he translates ideas into tangible objects, products and infrastructures.
With a strong understanding of construction and manufacturing, his work seeks to uncover new possibilities for design — from unexpected interactions and material expressions to more responsible ways of shaping our everyday environments.
After finishing his apprenticeship as a carpenter and cabinetmaker 2018 in Hamburg, he started his studies 2019 in Berlin, receiving his B.A. in product & industrial design in 2024 and his M.A. in 2026 from weissensee kunsthochschule berlin. In 2022 he studied for a semester at Kyoto University of the Arts and Design in Kyoto, Japan.
Currently he works as an artistic research associate at weissensee kunsthochschule berlin as well as a freelance designer with different design studios, artists and companies. He formerly worked for büro +staubach, Matters of Activity, Seiki Design Studio and Studio Mark Braun.
