gesellenstueck was designed and built as a journeyman's piece to complete the apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker and carpenter. The classic mid century sideboard design was adapted and modernized through combining solid european cherry wood with furniture linoleum in a vibrant pistachio green colour.
A hidden QI-charging station was also implemented to charge your cellphone through placing it on top. The wires were discretly led through a channel in the rear panel and backfoot.
The furniture piece had to be planned and built adhering to a set of predefined tasks by the carpenters guild. Therefore very precise and extensive technical drawings were made. All of the necessary material like wood, linoleum and semi-finished products such as hinges, lock and key and the Qi-charging station were selected and processed. For the building process only a limited time of hours was given and everything had to be fabricated by me. A heavy emphasis was put on traditional joinery combined with mordern elements.
